Not-So-Close Encounter of the 1st kind with John Williams and Philly Orchestra

What’s more fitting than to have a concert of John Williams music held on May 4th? To have the maestro himself show up and conduct!

Indeed, in perhaps the greatest concert I’ve ever experienced, the Philadelphia Orchestra did a 2-week long festival of Williams’s music, with a special 1-night appearance by Williams himself. Besides incredible music, there were clips played throughout the night with guest conductor Stéphane Denève interviewing Williams about his work. They even showed some clips from the various films Williams has scored without the music, and then played to it live!

Bu perhaps the best surprise of all, was Denève announced, “Mr. Williams is with us here tonight”, and all of us thinking he was backstage, were stunned when in the middle of the auditorium, the spotlight shines on Williams himself - right there in the audience!

While I wasn’t lucky enough to score tickets next to Williams, it was still a night to remember!

Unfortunately, our seats were in the back of the hall, but still a great picture
